Sporting Links
Mike served as a governor of the University of East London from 2006 to 2015. He was a member of the Finance and General Purposes Committee, the Estates Committee and the Governance Committee, and during his time as a Governor saw a massive development of the University’s sporting facilities with the building of two magnificent sports halls.
He is currently:
- Chairman of Sight Action Havering
- A trustee of The Primary Club (a charity which provides sporting and recreational opportunities for children and young people with a vision impairment)
- Vice President of Metro Sports Club for the Blind (which he founded in 1973)
- Vice President of the British Paralympic Association
- A Trustee of the Disability Sports Development Trust
- A Lord’s Taverner
He has also been an advisor on the Lawn Tennis Foundation’s Tennis for the disabled advisory panel
